Is Cotton the Next Great Innovation in the Battery World?

It almost seems crazy. Cotton as the next great battery innovation? While their claims are far from proven at this point, a company in Japan claims they’ve created a battery that solves virtually all of the problems the electric car battery industry has – with nothing more than cotton.

In an article called The Organic Battery From Japan That Could Spawn the Next Tesla, Power Plus Japan makes some big claims about their batteries: "Except the silver cylinder contains no lithium oxide. Nor any expensive rare earth metals. It won’t catch fire if punctured. And unlike lithium ion batteries, it can be charged and discharged thousands of times without losing its energy capacity, its creator claims. Oh, and Power Japan Plus’ battery also generates more power than a lithium battery and can charge 20 times as fast.”

At the moment, the only electric car that can go anywhere near 300 miles on a single charge is the Tesla Model S. But in order to get these numbers it must us a huge, expensive lithium-ion battery pack, which puts it out of price range for the average consumer. This new advancement could make electric vehicles accessible to everyone.

And yes, it all came from cotton! The company utilizes cotton carbon fibers to make special properties we haven’t seen in any other carbon fiber. The resulting fiber is a Carbon Complex that works with organic electrolytes as the conducting fluid.

Another great advantage of these batteries is that they work at a steady temperature, which means there’s no need for costly cooling systems. This technology was actually first worked on in the late ‘70s and it’s only been in the last 6 ½ years that this Japanese company has been working to perfect it.

While the company is currently only creating batteries for use in electronics, they are open to working with electric car manufacturers. It seems they’re most interested in a licensing deal as opposed to creating the car batteries themselves, but at Battery Bob we’re keeping an eye on any major manufacturers who want to step up the plate.

In the meantime, don’t forget to stock up on a wide range of quality batteries at exceptional prices. Remember that shipping is always free and your satisfaction is guaranteed!

Yeah, that's basical (10/8/2015 10:57:00 PM)
Yeah, that's basically how the Prius works, the ientrnal combustion engine, when at highway speeds, uses an alternator to charge the batteries back to their full charge. When city driving (under 5-10mph) the engine shuts off or idles and you drive with the batteries engaged. City driving is the most fuel inefficient so that's where the fuel savings is.I think the cars are practical for somepeople. I did check into it when I was searching for a new car, but I drive mostly highway miles and the mpg with the car I have now and the mpg of a Prius or similar weren't that significant. Current car gets 35mpg, Prius was about 31mpg for mostly highway.)Of concern to me regarding the Prius or other hybrids is what to do with the batteries, the cost of them, etc Proper disposal/recycling http://cpkkcxwq.com lrepfucwym [link=http://sqpzimzeq.com]sqpzimzeq[/link]
