The Influence of Scooters from Here to China

It’s no secret that China has more than a few people populating its boundaries. The country also has a large number of cars clogging up roadways on a daily basis. One man is trying to do something about that by increasing the popularity of scooters. Quartz takes a look at his efforts in a recent article titled "A tech entrepreneur is trying to make scooters cool in car-obsessed China.”

Lily Kuo of Quartz writes, "One of China’s best-known tech leaders is hoping to revolutionize the motorized scooter. Li Yinan, former chief technology officer of China’s largest internet search company, Baidu, has taken inspiration from Vespa’s design and Tesla’s lithium-ion battery, to launch an electric scooter for high-end commuters. In a launch event today in Beijing, Li’s company Niu, which means ‘buffalo’ in Chinese, introduced the ‘N1 smart e-scooter.’ The bike includes a lithium battery that can last 100km without recharging and weighs just 10.1kg—’so women can easily lift it too,’ Li said at the launch. It has a motor made by the German automotive parts maker Bosch, and comes with an app to monitor battery levels and theft. Li, best known for attending university in China at the age of 15 and later becoming the youngest vice president of the Chinese telecom giant Huawei, has said he eventually hopes to sell his scooters in Europe but he may have a tough enough time in China. He is entering a crowded field of other electric scooter startups and cheaper manufacturers.”

Perhaps one day, Li will see events like Mid-Ohio Classic Scooters Show in China. The Columbus Dispatch reports on this year’s show in a recent article titled "Scooter devotees revving up for gathering they love most.” Allison Ward of the Columbus Dispatch writes, "The event, in its 20th year, marks the annual gathering of Mid-Ohio Classic Scooters, a group of about 70 enthusiasts who meet regularly to ride scooters; and, once a year at the show, to trade and sell parts, get pointers on mechanics and honor the best-of-show scooters. Dozens of makes and models at least 25 years old — including a few vintage bicycles and small motorcycles — will be displayed throughout the weekend, said Dave Leisure, a 68-year-old rider from Columbus.”

Hum seems we have a (10/11/2015 6:38:00 PM)
Hum seems we have a lot of stereo tyipng above. If you look at Italian men you might say they are the most arrogant and alpha males in the world. I think scooters in europe has more to do with their economy. They don't have massive credit card limits nor massive home mortgages as our banks have allowed us USA-ians.One of the coolest things I saw while in Rome were the massive amounts of Motorini , As I found they call their scooters, that I saw especially during their early morning commutes. Each signal was an opportunity to have a corsa which meant no lanes were respected and sidewalkers had better beware. I myself never got the whole Scooter thing until I went to the greek islands. I then road one and had a ball touring around the little towns and beaches, it was special. Would I own one here in LA too scary even in a car to drive here. http://xzchapnvair.com njwlzmmmyea [link=http://yxwblfr.com]yxwblfr[/link]

More than anything, (11/25/2015 2:49:00 PM)
More than anything, I think that it comes down to nedeing the bigger and better with everything. Ours is a culture that pushes people to own something big, expensive, and edgy. If it's not worth showing off, it's hardly worth having. As a country, we've hardly ever had to feel like we need to downsize. Even with massive cities, the gaps in between remind us that we have tons of room and resources. So why care?Masculinity ties into this. Crotch rockets (giggle) and Harleys are either about speed, power, or noise. Scooters have long been made fun of as the transport of the weak and nerdy. The geek with big glasses, a bike helmet, and a cinched up backpack is what people expect to see on a scooter. Nothing macho, nothing sexy. With more people such as yourself, this idea will quickly change.

I have a simple <a h (11/26/2015 10:52:00 AM)
I have a simple resonpse to that question: masculinity. Look at the masculine pride America takes in its automotive heritage; a culture that continues to this day. The Dodge trend of put a hemi in it was the thesis of this mentality. Take that and compare it to everything a scooter stands for. It's not a mystery, it's just misguided american culture. When Americans get cold, they turn up the heat. When Europeans get cold, they put on a sweater. Americans prefer gas-guzzling engines and the mentality of I pay for my (macho) lifestyle and F the rest of the world and everyone in it to chic simplicity. Anything less it just gay.

Review by Heather Collins for Rating: By the description of this prducot, I assumed that these were authentic Razor Scooter grips they are not. If your interested in paying a ridiculous shipping amount for these generic scooter grips, then I guess there're okay. They are about a 1/2 inch shorter then the original Razor Scooter grips. They were easy to install and because my daughter has small hands the shorter length did not matter. http://frjdjvtbg.com pgozbwnde [link=http://khzigfbtzc.com]khzigfbtzc[/link]

hummmm maybe we coul (11/28/2015 4:16:00 AM)
hummmm maybe we could have a bike and scooter paeitnd lane like on the roads so that the children know their own area and parents know not to go near the lane in fear of smaller children getting hurt? I was thinking of a coned area but that would mean someone putting them out every morning and night and could cause a tripping hazard! This may work in the playground environment, but I doubt it will solve the problem on the public footpaths outside of school with the congestion! The only other idea I can think of is for the children and adults that have bikes and scooters to wait 5-10 mins for the playgrounds to be cleared. This will mean smaller children will be safer and the children with scooters and bikes can enjoy their ride home from school! Again this is just a solution for the end of the school day and not on a morning!

I don't think I have (11/30/2015 10:20:00 PM)
I don't think I have ever seen a scootist(?) weirang a helmet. You see, the problem comes about because lots of children arrive early for school and use the expanse of the playground to scoot about, which is much more fun than standing around waiting. At the end of the day younger siblings ride around while waiting for older ones to come out on the Junior site. Their parents are with them, but not seeing a problem or stopping them from scooting. If we had a rule' it then has to be enforced or policed. Who is available to make sure children do not ride around when the playground is busy? Do we need flags or other signals?I don't want to get into an argument every day with children over what is, perhaps, harmless good fun. http://hmlrrnggkn.com nbbiuvez [link=http://wtsferfbty.com]wtsferfbty[/link]
